Let’s face it, most of us are on the go every single day. We have families, jobs, pets, and many demands on our time. I’m newly married, in the process of launching three new businesses, and a dog mom of three, which means I’m on the go often. Being on the go, however, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice good, healthy food! God gave us these bodies, and it’s our job to take care of them.
Snack time! One way I try to eat healthy on the go is by having hearty snacks readily available. I keep snacks like protein bars, nuts, jerky sticks in my purse and in my car so I always have a healthy option. Choosing healthy snacks to munch on throughout the day helps me not overindulge on unhealthy options, as well as fuels me to stay focused and motivated throughout the day. Stock up on your favorite healthy snacks and keep them in close reach, so they are always easily accessible no matter where you are.
Get Active. I understand how hard it can be to make exercise a part of your routine when you’re already being pulled in so many directions. Doing your job with excellence, making time for those you love, taking care of a home, and many other things can take priority. But I find that when I make time for myself to get some endorphins going, even if it’s for 15 minutes a day, it allows me to be a better spouse, a better businesswoman, and a better friend to those around me. Working out doesn’t have to be hours of intense training! Some of my favorite ways to exercise are the simplest things like taking the dogs for a quick jog around the neighborhood or taking work calls while walking up and down the driveway. Even if you don’t have a lot of time, making exercise a priority will allow you to feel better not only physically, but mentally too, as well as motivate you to make better eating choices
Make An Appointment With Yourself. When I book a workout class or schedule a walk or a run with a friend, I very rarely opt out. So, I’ve started booking appointments with myself, too. I schedule time in my diary (yes, I actually write it down) to do a few workouts a week. Whether it’s pilates, a HIIT class, or a slow walk around the block, I know when I make an appointment to workout, I rarely don’t show up, so I’ve started applying this to myself, for myself. By making a commitment with yourself, not only are you prioritizing yourself, but you’re also allowing yourself to recharge. This is not selfish, because in the long run it will allow you to be more productive in your work life, personal life, and spiritual life! It’s no longer an option for me to not schedule an appointment with myself at least once a week; I always feel so much better when I do! I call this “Demi Time.”
So whether your schedule includes exams and classes, carpool lines, or business meetings, incorporating these three easy things can help you stay mentally and physically healthy on the go!

Thank you for this encouraging reminder to make time for ourselves, and that there are so many simple things we can do each day to achieve this goal! ❤️
Good reminders!!!
Thanks for the tips Demi! 🥰 Jesus paid the price for us to live a full life! We glorify Him by doing just that! Xox
All great ideas. Yes preparing ahead with health snacks that are readily available makes it easier to fit into your schedule, whether at home, work, or on the run I do this especially for integration into my office work schedule with minimal effort and time lost.
Basically, as a loner by choice and default due to busy schedule, the idea of scheduling specific times for exercise and work-out type activities is a good method to keep on track for important exercise, especially if the commitment follow-through occurs on a routine basis. Occasionally unplanned business meeting and other activities pop-up in my schedule, but having made a definite plan ahead for this personal time helps me to keep it locked in place most of the time. It also helps me to add new work and other commitments to my schedule by dates and times whenever possible that do not represent a conflict with this important personal time documented.
So your 3-pronged approach really works for me Demi, and I think great advice for most people. Thank you.
Hi Demi, This is such a great encouraging blog post. I am 13 and I live in Colorado. I am a huge fan of you and would love to meet you someday
This is very helpful. Thank you.
I love this! For starters… When I ran into you last Wednesday at the Jax airport, I knew you would be personable. I am a mother of two living in Jacksonville as well. I do pure barre and recently joined LA Fitness because I love the option of working out inside with a pool and air conditioning with this big heat wave coming. Sometimes it’s tough eating healthy with two kids and a husband to feed but I’ve come to understand the value of healthy snacks. However, jerky sticks? Not sure about those. I had bacon (and I rarely eat it) on my most recent travels for a family reunion and it was delicious.
Thanks for the inspiration, Demi and keep on keeping on for Christ! My family admires you!
PS- when you start trying for babies, look me up! I’m a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator in Jax. I provide private classes and group childbirth classes. My passion is teaching moms to have confidence during birth and provide all the tools necessary to have the best birth experience.
Do you have any favorite brands that you like to use for your snacks? So many of them are labeled as healthy but have a lot of fat or sugar in them.
I really needed this! Thank you for sharing. I’m in the process of wanting to take care of myself but doesn’t actually know how.
